In the Urban Design Specialty, students acquire knowledge in proximity urbanism and develop solutions for the contemporary city. The program aims to foster creative transformations of public space centered on people, promoting the redesign of cities with and for citizens. Based on the integration of the landscape and the recovery of nature as fundamental axes, it seeks to contribute to the development of more sustainable urban environments.

  • Contemporary approach: Unique program oriented to the design of 21st century cities from the perspective of social sustainability and landscape integration.
  • People-centered urban design:
    Creative transformation of the built environment with and for citizens, aimed at improving the quality of life and public space.
  • Leading faculty: Architects, urban planners and landscape architects.
  • Theoretical-practical applied model: Training that combines conceptual foundations with project workshops focused on real urban problems.

Curriculum

Who is it aimed at?

  • Professionals in architecture, urban planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture or design, as well as people interested in public space.
  • Urban planning managers in local and state governments.
  • Interest in the planning and design of sustainable and functional urban spaces, urban trends and development of public spaces.

What will you be able to work on?

  • Graduates will be able to design urban spaces that are functional, sustainable and adapted to the needs of citizens. They will be able to apply urban planning principles in the creation and renovation of public spaces, with a focus on mobility and sustainability.
  • They will gain knowledge in proximity urbanism to design spaces for everyone: the sidewalk, the street, the square, the park.
  • They will be able to work as urban designers and planners, landscape designers or urban sustainability consultants.

Architect from the Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona and Doctor in Architecture from the Universidad Europea de Madrid. Director of the magazine Arquine, member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores del FONCA and Advisor to the Secretaría de Cultura de la Ciudad de México. Winner of the Graham Foundation Editor’s Fellowship and author of books such as La sombra del cuervo.
